Cecil  Evans
Cecil Evans, 91, of Dawsonville passed away Thursday October 26, 2017 following a period of declining health.
Born March 12, 1926 in Dawson County to the late Waldo and Lena Cantrell, she lived a number of years in Gilmer County before returning to Dawson County in 1960. A homemaker at her death, she enjoyed travel, especially to the mountains, country and gospel music. Cecil was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. A member of New Hope Baptist Church, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Roy L. Evans; sisters, Frankie Cantrell, Frances Payne; and brother, Larry Cantrell.
Surviving are her children, Mary and Hubert Bailey, Dawsonville, Gary and Regina Evans, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Carol Anne Bailey, Beth and Jason Hamby, Sam Bailey; great grandchildren, Marley Hamby, Luke Hamby; sisters in law, Genell Cantrell, Joyce Evans, both of Ellijay.
Funeral services will be held Sunday October 29, 2017 at 3 o’clock at New Hope Baptist Church. Rev. Jason Hamby, Rev. Scott Chastain, and Rev. Jimmy Chester will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 until 3 at New Hope Baptist Church.
