Obituary for Betty Fay Cox Tatum

Betty Fay Cox  Tatum
Betty Fay Cox Tatum, 84, of Dawsonville passed away Monday March 18, 2019 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Born February 13, 1935 in Cherokee County to the late Toy and Maude Cox, she lived a number of years in the Hopewell Community near Alpharetta before moving to Dawson County in 1986. During her high school years she was an outstanding basketball player. A homemaker for the past 60 years, she was formerly employed as a bookkeeper for Roswell Bank after which, along with her husband, they owned and operated a cattle and poultry farm. Betty was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed playing in church. Mrs. Tatum also enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening, cooking, canning, and camping. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church and was also preceded in death by brothers, Holland Cox, Olin Cox, her twin brother, Billy Cox, and a great granddaughter, Abbey Kilgore.
Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Charlie Tatum, Dawsonville; children, Vickie and Don Mulkey, Flowery Branch, Bruce and Melissa Tatum, Dawsonville, Robin and Tim Biddy, Dawsonville, Julie Adams, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Alison and Horace Kilgore, Philip Mulkey, Alex and Katy Tatum, Jessica and Thomas Waite, Nicholas and Jessi Biddy, Rachel and C.J. Sams, Josie Adams; fourteen great grandchildren; sister, Monteree Richards, Sugar Hill; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Friday March 22, 2019 at 2 o’clock at Concord Baptist Church. Dr. Scott Gilbert, Rev. Tim Biddy, and Rev. Don Mulkey will officiate. Interment will follow in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 3:30 until 8 at the funeral home.
