Obituary for Barbara Parks Burks

Barbara Parks Burks, 92, of Dawsonville, GA passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022. She was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church in College Park, GA until the church moved to Riverdale and changed names to National Heights Baptist Church. At both churches, she played the piano and organ, and sang in the choir. Barbara enjoyed old westerns, music, reading, sewing and quilting. She also loved painting and entered her artwork in shows at the senior center. Barbara had a love for traveling and visited 49 states.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Burks, parents, James and May Parks; daughter, Lynn Cohran; brother, Frank Parks and sister, Evelyn Burks.

Survivors include her children, Richard (Gayle) Burks, Whitesburg, GA, Julia (Harry) Martin, Rockledge, FL, Paul (Cindy) Burks, Dawsonville, GA, Bobbie (Brooks) McCord, Cumming, GA, Walter (Melanie) Burks, Douglasville, GA;
Brother, Thomas (Joyce) Parks, Lawrenceville, GA; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives survive.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel, Dawsonville, GA.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
