Obituary for Cary Denard

Alvin Cary Denard, 59, of Williamsburg, Virginia passed away on March 11, 2021 at Bon Secours Memorial Hospital in Richmond, Virginia surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and Lung Cancer. Cary, born on January 24, 1962 was Director of Sales with Bluegreen Vacations. Surviving is his loving wife, Michele, daughter and son in law Jessica and Jonathan Matthews, son Matthew Oravetz, his two fur babies, Caymus and Bella. Parents, Clarence and Jean Denard, sisters and brother in laws; Sherry and Reggie Van Hoozer and Renee and Steve Wright. Brother and sister in law Stanley and Angie Denard. Special niece, Tara and Tim Hamby, great nieces Karley and Karson Hamby. Special nephews, Justin Denard, Colby Denard and fiancé Amber Whaley, great nephew Landyn Harris; all of these among a number of other beloved relatives.

Although being away from his home town of Dawsonville for many years, Cary maintained a close relationship with many of his former high school classmates and friends. They all marveled at Cary’s strong will, fight and determination to overcome the diseases which were to ultimately take him home to be with his Lord.

Cary was the most selfless person, full of life and genuine love. He lived by his favorite quote, “In life, it’s not what happens to you, it’s how you respond.” Let these words live on.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethe United Methodist Church, Dawsonville, Georgia.
