Charlie Downs, 63, of Dawsonville passed away Saturday July 4, 2020 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital following a period of declining health.
Born December 1, 1956, Charlie was raised in Virginia where he was a 1976 graduate of Southwest Dekalb High School. A resident of Dawson County for 15 years, he was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Charlie worked as a truck driver for many years and retired from Sherwin Williams after 19 years of service and over 1 million miles driven. A beloved husband, father, son and brother, he was preceded in death by his father, Charles Downs, Sr., son, Charles Downs, III, sister, JoAnne “Teenie” Haysen and mother in law and father in law, Lullean and Irrel “Fuzzy” Finch.
Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Renee Downs, Dawsonville; Daughters, Amanda Witmer, Kennesaw, Angela Martin, Duluth, Kelly Watley, Dawsonville; mother, Jeri Lee Downs, Kansas; granddaughter, Taylor Martin; three brothers; other relatives.
The family is planning memorial services for a later date.
