Obituary for Darwin Ray Meadows

Darwin Ray Meadows, 91, of Dawsonville passed away Monday, October 5, 2020. Born March 9, 1929 in Sheridan, NY to the late Frederick Meadows and Grace Knight, he had lived in Dawson County for the past 23 years in retirement. He served in the US Navy for over 2 years starting at the close of WWII. After his military service, he spent over 40 years as an iron worker and steel engineer working on projects all over the country including the Olympic Stadium for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He was a loving, simple, faithful, hardworking man. He was loved by his family and friends and respected by those that worked with him and those that worked for him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bud, and sisters Karen and Candy. He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Linda, Dawsonville: stepson Jim Glover (Jennifer), Wylie, TX, granddaughter Regan; son Cliff (Patti), Orchard Park, NY, granddaughter Chrissy Scrimshaw (John), great-grandchildren Jack and Kate, grandson Rick; daughter Debbie (Howard Stover), California; daughter Elaine Johnson (James), Atlanta, GA; sisters Nancy and Bonnie; brothers Bill and Bob.
A small, informal service will be held at Bearden Funeral Home in Dawsonville, GA on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 from 11am – 12pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care at www.seasons.org
