Obituary for David Richard Shirley
David Richard Shirley, 87, of Cumming passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at his residence.
Born July 18, 1935 in Atlanta, Ga to the late Talley Henry and Allie Florence Shirley, he had lived in Forsyth County since 2008. Mr. Shirley retired from American Appraisal Associates following 36 years of service. He possessed a great passion for family genealogy. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Joan Shirley, four sisters and four brothers.
Surviving are his children, David and Christy Shirley, Festus, Missouri, Brenda and Robert Weischedel, Dahlonega, Jennifer and Jeff Meddaugh, Gainesville, John and Oksana Shirley, Cumming; brother, Merrill Lloyd Shirley, Tennessee; numerous grandchildren and other relatives.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 12 noon at Dawsonville Memorial Gardens. Bishop David Goulding will officiate.
The family will receive friends Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
