After graduating from Lula Rich Highschool in 1956, Donna attended college at Copiah Lincoln College in Wesson, Mississippi where she was a majorette. Following college Donna worked as an administrative assistant in Memphis, Tennessee when she met and married her 3 children’s father, Emery Wayne Eldred. During the 12 year marriage they lived in Memphis, TN, Lafayette, LA and Overland Park, KS. Following her divorce, Donna rededicated her life to the Lord in 1961.

In her forty’s Donna obtained her Nursing degree at Phillips Community College in Helena Arkansas. She became boarded and certified as a registered nurse then initially practiced nursing at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, TN. After gaining experience as a Medical- Surgical nurse she became employed as a traveling nurse working on Indian reservations in Oklahoma and Gallop, New Mexico. Donna finished her nursing career in the operating room (OR) setting at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA.

Donna loved people, nature, animals and birds and as an artist created paintings of scenes in acrylic and oil. She loved gardening and always nurtured or revived the house and yard plants wherever she lived. Donna, also, was a foody and loved to cook. She wanted to pass on her love of food and created recipe books of her favorite dishes for all her children and adult grandchildren. Her favorite pastime in her later years was genealogy. For her sister, Jackie’s 60th birthday, she located all Jackie’s late Father’s relatives and introduced them to Jackie. Donna bequeathed to her family an oversized file cabinet from all her years of genealogy research. In addition, Donna loved Billy Graham and all gospel music; most especially the Gaithers. For her 80th birthday, Donna requested her family accompany her to the Billy Graham Library and Museum in Charlotte, NC. The family rented a 15 passenger van and loaded up her cousin, sister, children and even some grandchildren for the tour.
