Obituary for Emma Gorter Conlon

Emma Gorter Conlon, 93, of Gainesville passed away Friday, September 30, 2022, at her residence.

Born November 26, 1928, in Midland Park, NJ to the late George and Janet Gorter, she was a longtime resident of Forsyth County. Emma previously worked as an office manager at Cheerhaven in Dalton, GA for 25 years. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, where she was a member and volunteered for many years. Emma loved the Georgia Bulldogs and enjoyed going to Athens to watch the games. She had a love of music, dancing and traveling. Later in her life at the age of 84 and 86, she traveled to France with her family. Emma was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband of 52 years, Paul Edward Conlon; brother, George Gorter; and grandson, David Conlon.

Surviving are her children, Bruce and Lisa Conlon, of Dalton, Karen Conlon, of Gainesville, Cathy Conlon, of Gainesville, Craig and Renee Conlon of Foley, AL.
Grandchildren, Jeffrey Conlon, Dalton, JoAnna and Jim Bellmore, Bradenton, FL, John and Kimberly Wilson, Cumming, Jennifer and Douglas Morgan, Gainesville, Chad and Angela Turkett, Dawsonville, Kate Roberts, Atlanta, Matthew Conlon, Foley, AL; 10 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 3, 2022, at 3 o’clock at New Hope United Methodist Church, 4815 Dawsonville Hwy., Gainesville, GA 30506. Rev. Andrew Covington will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Monday, October 3rd from 2 until service time.
