Eugene S. “Gene” Duncan, 82, of Dawsonville passed away Sunday January 10, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a short illness.
Born January 18, 1938 to the late Silvie and Elizabeth Duncan, he was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. Gene was a 1956 graduate of Dawson County High School and he retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation following 34 years of service. He was a U. S. Army veteran where he served as an M. P. He enjoyed farming and was very devoted to his family. A deacon at Harmony Baptist Church, he was also a former Sunday School teacher and was also preceded in death by a brother, Boyd Duncan.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Christa Duncan; children, Raymond and Cathy Duncan, Delhia and Darwin Miller, Michelle and Jamie Gee, all of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Derek and Abby Duncan, Cole and Gracie Duncan, Alex and Clay Lowman, Kayla and Joshua Sudderth, Joshua Gee, Spencer and Hannah Duncan, Hannah Gee; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Bonita Waters, Gainesville; brother and sister in law, Floyd and Sherry Duncan, Dawsonville; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 2 o’clock at Harmony Baptist Church with the remains placed in state at 1 o’clock. Rev. Tony Holtzclaw and Rev. Cole Duncan will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family understands that because of the COVID-19 pandemic some will not be comfortable in attending. They respectfully requests that all attending please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
