Obituary for Eunice L. Reed

Eunice Louise Reed, age 93, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 26, 2021 following an extended illness. She was born December 17, 1927 to the late Boyd and Effie Goode. She was a resident of Dawson County for most of her life and was employed at Sweet-Orr in Dawsonville for over 30 years as a Quality Control Inspector and was co-owner of Reed Tile Company for many years. She was a caregiver by nature; not only was she an exceptional mother but she also helped care for and spoil her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She devoted 20 years of her life as a loving caregiver to her husband until his passing in 2000. She loved the simple things in life – visiting with family and friends, cooking, gardening, sewing, and reading her bible. She was a member of Amicalola Baptist Church and loved getting to see her church family when she was able to attend. She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Gus Reed; son, Kenneth Reed; grandsons, Rusty “Bo” and Jerry Reed; and numerous siblings.
She is the loving and devoted mother to Larry (Donna) Reed, Ronnie Reed, Sherry Phillips, Rickey (Kelly) Reed, and Sherry Reed, all of Dawsonville. Adored grandmother to 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren. Dear sister to Huey Goode of Jasper and is the sweet aunt to many nieces and nephews.
The family wants to extend their sincere appreciation to her special caregivers Erica Morris, Amanda Reed, Dorothy Reed, and the staff at Hospice Of Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Monday March 1, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel and will be streamed online on Bearden Funeral Home’s Facebook page. Rev. Tom Stradley and Rev. William Blackwell will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dawsonville City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday February 28 from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Bearden Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
