Obituary for Gary Alvin Burt
Gary Burt, 67, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday June 1, 2022 following a long battle with cancer.
A lifelong resident of Dawson County, Gary was born April 19, 1955 and the youngest son of Willie and Versel (Williams) Burt. He attended Dawson County High School and later retired from Stuart Brothers Paving. Gary was of Christian faith and a loving uncle to his niece and nephew. He enjoyed spending time on the river with them and was lovingly known as “Uncle Gary” to his great nieces who he loved dearly. He loved the outdoors and was happiest when traveling on his Harley and seeing new places with his best friend, Tommy. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Willie Burt; paternal grandparents, Grover and Lizzie Burt; maternal grandparents, Ernest and Jessie Williams.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center and Gary’s caregiver at home, Leo, for their care, help, and kind support for Gary and his family.
Surviving are his mother, Versel Burt; brother and sister-in-law, Donny and Penny Burt, all of Dawsonville; niece, Tiffany Ramsey (Dan); nephew, Derek Burt (Michele); great nieces, Emma Burt, Avery Ramsey, Blakely Burt.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Russell Burt will officiate. Interment will follow in Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday June 3 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 12 noon until the service hour.
