Obituary for Gary Edwards
Gary Edwards, 82, of Cumming, GA passed away Friday May 6, 2022 at Northside Hospital Forsyth following a brief illness.
Born April 10, 1940 to the late Hugh “Rebo” and Helen Edwards, Gary spent many years in Asheville, NC before moving to North Georgia in 2003. He was an avid golfer and spent his career working at Etowah Golf Club in Etowah, NC, Asheville Municipal Golf Course in Asheville, NC, Black Mountin Golf Course in Black Mountain, NC, and Country Land Golf Course in Cumming, GA until his retirement in 2006. A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, he especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Gary is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilyn “Tennessee” Edwards.
Surviving are his children, Kent Edwards of Asheville, NC, Michael and CaTrinna Edwards of Cumming, GA, Mark and Jennifer Edwards of Dawsonville, GA; grandchildren, McKale Edwards, Malia Edwards, McKenzie Edwards, Joshua Edwards, Olivia Edwards, Meghan Picklesmer, Jacob Picklesimer; brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Rita Edwards of Asheboro, NC; sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Sydney Bass of Swannanoa, NC; other relatives.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday May 14, 2022 from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at Harwood Home For Funerals, 208 W State Street, Black Mountain, NC with a reception to follow from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at The Green Tee Grille at Black Mountain Golf Course, 17 Ross Drive, Black Mountain, NC.
