Obituary for Hazel Thomas
Hazel Thomas, 88, of Dahlonega passed away Thursday September 15, 2022, following a period of declining health.
Born November 23, 1933, to the late John and Herman Gazaway, she had been a resident of Lumpkin County for the past two years after living most of her life in Cumming. Hazel was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church in Cumming. A wonderful mother and extremely loving grandmother, she enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, and cooking. Her smile would light up a room and she will be dearly missed. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Thomas; children, Charles Thomas, Allen Thomas, Larry Thomas, Gloria Thomas; siblings, Jasper Gazaway, Jack Gazaway.
Surviving are her daughter, Carol Thomas of Dahlonega; daughter-in-law, Mary Thomas of Cumming; brother, Hugh Gazaway of Cumming; grandchildren, Camille and Christian Allen of Dawsonville, Josh Pike of Colorado, Steven and Ashley Thomas of Dahlonega, Jessica and Jesse Wright of Dawsonville, Cody Thomas of Florida, Anthony Thomas of Dawsonville, Joseph Thomas, Michelle Thomas of Cumming; numerous great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Rodney Allen will officiate. Interment will follow at New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Cumming.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 noon until the hour of service on Sunday.
