Obituary for Herman Rider
Herman Rider, 89, of Dawsonville passed away Monday November 29, 2021 at his residence following a period of declining health.
Born June 22, 1932, Herman was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin and Dawson County. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic throughout his life and retired from the Dawson County Road Department after many years of service. Herman enjoyed many hobbies, but his favorite was making moonshine, which he was well known for. Herman was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He was of Baptist faith and his family was the most important part of his life. The last of ten siblings, Herman was also preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Daisy Rider and a grandson, Dwayne Rider.
Surviving are his wife, Era Chester Rider, Dawsonville; son and daughter in law, Clark and Lisa W. Rider, Dawsonville; daughter and son in law, Pam and Kenneth Moss, Dahlonega; grandchildren, Sandra Longino, Amanda Cato, Jeana Rider, Derek Walker, Chelseay Frith, Miranda Moss; honorary granddaughter, Jessica Chavez; 15 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday December 1, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Mill Creek Baptist Church in Dahlonega.
