Obituary for Hugh Boyd Stowers, Jr.
Hugh Boyd Stowers, Jr., 81, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at his residence.
Born June 2, 1940 to the late Hugh B., Sr. and Inez Stowers, he was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. Mr. Stowers retired from Lucent Technologies following over 30 years of service. Hugh was a U. S. Navy Veteran of Viet Nam. A member of Sardis Baptist Church, he was also preceded in death by his son, Phil Harrison Stowers; sisters, Ophelia Headrick; and brothers, Elton Stowers and Benny Stowers.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Stowers, Dawsonville; children, Glenda Kay Abernathy, Flowery Branch, Hugh, III, and Donna Stowers, Dahlonega, Michael D. and Nicole Stowers, Gainesville; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Castleberry, Cumming; brothers, Riley Stowers, Missouri, Fred Stowers, Dawsonville, Melvin Stowers, Kennesaw, Frank Stowers, Dawsonville; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Stowers will be laid to rest at the Georgia National Cemetery at a later date.
