John D. Davis, 90, of Dawsonville passed away Saturday April 23, 2022 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Born February 23, 1932 to the late Byrd and Clara Davis, John had been a resident of Dawson County for most of his life. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran who served in Korea. For many years he owned and operated Davis Trucking and served as the Dawson County Sheriff for eight years. John was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Davis; daughter, Pamela Bragg; brothers, L.T. Davis, Franklin Davis, W.H. Davis; sisters, Vernice Binder, Catherine Aaron.
Surviving are his son and daughter in law, Tim and Shirley Davis, Dawsonville; sisters, Ruth Johnson, Monroe; brother, G.B. Davis, Clinton, SC; 3 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 27, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday April 26 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
