Obituary for John Geirrein

John Geirrein, 80, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Northside Hospital Forsyth following a period of declining health.
Born October 27, 1942, John previously lived in Lithonia and had been a resident of Dawsonville for almost 40 years. He was of Baptist faith and known as “Pee-Paw” by his friends, family, and neighbors. For many years he worked as a commercial truck driver. John had a great love for animals and following his retirement from trucking he worked at Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary in Locust Grove for the next 15 years until his full retirement in 2006. A loving and devoted father, grandfather, and brother, he was very family oriented and enjoyed his flower gardens at his home. John was preceded in death by his parents, W.L. and Bessie Geirrein; four sons, Ronnie, Johnny, Donnie, and Shawn Geirrein; grandson, Randall Badgley; sister, Ann Bussey.
Survivors include his daughter, Cindy Badgley (Eric Mann) of Dawsonville; brothers, James Geirrein of Dawsonville, Mitchell Geirrein of Dahlonega; grandchildren, Robbie Badgley (Michelle) of Dahlonega, Trisha Czapski (Jesse) of Dahlonega; great-grandchildren, Gaven Badgley, Emily Czapski, Trenton Czapski, Patience Czapski; other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bobby Whitmire will officiate. Interment will follow in Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday April 11 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday April 12 from 12 noon until the hour of service.
