Obituary for Kenny Morgan Pelfrey

Kenny M. Pelfrey, 73, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday June 8, 2022 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born October 3, 1948, Kenny had been a resident of Dawson County for most of his life. Kenny owned and operated a family business that has continued for three generations, Pelfrey Contractors, and also owned and operated several other successful businesses. A member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Dawsonville, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved life, his retirement, fishing, and his family most of all. Kenny appreciated automobiles, both old and new, and especially enjoyed racing. He was one of Bill and Chase Elliott’s biggest fans. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.M. and Regenia Pelfrey and father-in-law, Marcus Byrd, Sr.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Deborah Pelfrey of Dawsonville; daughter and son-in-law, Kendy and Todd Bennett of Dawsonville; son-and daughter-in-law, Travis and Jody Pelfrey of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Taylor (Zack) Martin, Chloe Bennett, Kane Pelfrey, Emma Pelfrey; mother-in-law, Thelma Byrd of Dawsonville; numerous extended family and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church in Dawsonville. Rev. Andy Wallace and Dr. David Sanders will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday June 10 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
