Obituary for Lodene Spanola

We are so very sad and heartbroken by the sudden loss of Lodene Spanola. Lodene passed away quite suddenly on November 14.

Lodene found true joy and happiness with her husband Larry Spanola (married for 41 years before his passing in November, 2020). She was a constant, caring stepmother to Stephen Spanola and Lynnette Spanola Eastlake, loving daughter to Irma and Leo (Click) Bertolani and devoted sister to Lee Bertolani. She was a mother to Bella, her treasured and constant fur baby companion, adopted in 2019. She was a devout Catholic and always kept others in her prayers.

Lodene was born in Chicago and passed away at her home in Georgia. In every sense, Lodene was a strong, intelligent and compassionate person. She was selfless, giving and a loyal friend to many. She routinely put others before herself. Lodene worked at United Airlines for over 40 years supporting various CEOs (and probably running the company behind the scenes). She loved cooking, gardening, walking her pup and spoiling her husband. She will be fondly remembered for her cooking dexterity.

She leaves behind her stepson Stephen (Christine) and stepdaughter Lynnette (Jon), her sisters-in-law Judy and Dee, grandchildren Nick, Joey, Jenna and Gui. She also leaves behind several first, second and third cousins who were always front and center in her mind.

A Mass will be held at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church (Dawsonville, GA) on January 14, 2023 at 10 a.m. A reception will follow from 11 until 12:30. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to honor Lodene’s life can be sent to Make A Wish Foundation or Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church (Dawsonville, GA).
