Obituary for Marcella Joyce Yochum

Marcella Joyce Yochum, age 94 of Urbandale lowa passed away peacefully on Thursday March 10, 2022. Marcella was the daughter of Clyde and Sadie (Isaacson) Brown and was born on October 5, 1927 in Youngstown, Ohio. She
attended school in Colfax low and graduated from Colfax High School in 1945. While in school, she was active in school plays and was a member of the girls basketball team that went to The Girls State Tournament 3 years in a row.
Marcella married John Yochum and moved to Newton in 1952, where they raised their three children, Jaci, Jolene, and Scott. For 21 years, Marcella was the Welcome Wagon Hostess in Newton, until she was promoted to The Regional Field Manager for lowa and part of Illinois. In 1975 she was named the National Field Manager of the Year. She retired with over 41 years with Welcome Wagon.
Upon retiring, Marcella moved to Urbandale, where she
enjoyed several activities including playing bridge at the Bridge House, exercising with the Silver Sneakers, Red Hat Club, and being a Greeter at St. Pius X Catholic Church. She loved to tell stories and always had a joke or a quote in her purse that she shared with everyone.

Marcella is survived by her daughter Jolene (Harold Davis) in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, her son Scott, (Debbie) in
Dawsonville, Georgia, her brothers Bill Brown, Robert Brown, Don Brown, son in law Sid Gordon, Grandsons Brad
Yochum(Lauren) in Orlando Florida and Trevor Yochum
(Britney) in Roswell Georgia, and Great Granddaughters Avery and Addison Yochum.

Preceding her in death were her parents, sister Shirley
Williams, and her daughter Jaci Gordon.

A memorial service will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church at a later date.
