Obituary for Marvin C. "Marv" Jenkins
Dr. Marvin C. “Marv” Jenkins, 81, of Dahlonega passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, January 22, 2022.
Born April 28, 1940 in Niagra Falls, NY to the late Frank and Katherine Jenkins, he had lived in Lumpkin County for the past 8 years having moved from Albertville, AL. He received his Phd in Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. Marv retired as Vice President of Student Affairs at Jacksonville State University in Alabama following over 25 years of service. He enjoyed hiking, playing music, and flying. Dr. Jenkins was also preceded in death by his brother, Russell Jenkins.
Surviving are his daughters and sons in law, Hope Fettler, Buford, GA, Erica Jenkins, Horton, AL, April and J. R. Mitchell, Horton, AL, Sarah and Curt Williams, Suches, GA; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and his devoted dog, Foxy.
At his request, there will be a celebration of his life near the Toccoa River at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lumpkin County Humane Society, 1735 Red Oaks Flats Road, Dahlonega, GA 30533.
