Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Gober, 91, of Dawsonville went to her Heavenly home on Thursday February 18, 2021 at her residence following a period of declining health.
Born January 23, 1930 in Cherokee County to the late Egbert and Minnie Taylor, she had lived in Dawson County most of her life. A homemaker at her death, for many years she worked as a caregiver. Betty also cared for her parents, her husband Ernest, and her brother Robert. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening. A member of Liberty Baptist Church, she possessed a great love for the Lord and was saved at the age of 12. Betty served as a Sunday School teacher, was a member of the choir, and was a member of the W.M.U. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 53 years, Ernest Gober; and brothers, James Taylor and Robert Taylor.
Surviving are her brother, Rev. Billy Taylor, Concord, NC; children, Nancy and Dwight Whitmire, Gainesville, Melinda and Philip Grindle, Cumming, James Ernest Gober, Jr., Dawsonville, Jarvis Gober, Atlanta; grandchildren, Elaine and Corey Milford, Jamie and Mark Robertson, William and Shannon Grindle, Trent Grindle; great grandchildren, Zoie Robertson, Ellis Robertson, Jonathan Milford, Jamison Milford, Laken Grindle, Lachlen Grindle; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Sunday February 21, 2021 at 2 o’clock at Liberty Baptist Church. Rev. Dennis Bottoms and Rev. Stephen Davis will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 until 8 at the funeral home.
