Obituary

Pam New, 65, of Dawsonville passed away Friday, May 1, 2020, at Northside Forsyth Hospital.

Born March 29, 1955, in Charlotte, NC, she had lived in Dawson County for the past 5 years, having moved from Forsyth County. “Miss Pam” was a bus driver for the Dawson County Board of Education and she considered the children on her bus her kids, making each season special with decorations on the bus and treats for the children. She was formerly employed as a photo finisher and worked in that industry for years. She had a passion for photography and was in her element behind the camera capturing moments with family that would last forever. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, wildlife and nature, keeping all of her bird feeders full, and spending time at the beach. Pam was quick witted, creative, artistic, very loving, and was fiercely devoted and loyal to her family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, Larry New, Dawsonville; daughter and son in law, Megan and Henry Stensvold, Cartersville; stepson, Brian New, Panama City, FL; grandson, Hunter Stensvold; parents, Charles and Pauline Shaney, Clover, SC; sister and brother-in-law, Rhonda and Lester Weaver, Indian Trail, NC; niece, Jessica Smith (Matt); and a great niece, Whitney Smith.

The family is planning a celebration of her life at a later date.

We lost a longtime friend and I just wanted to share some good memories on Dock 5 with Pam New and her husband Larry. Pam named their houseboat "Among Friends" which was perfect because we all were among friends on the dock celebrating holidays, birthdays, and other special occasions on the dock or at each other's homes. We also enjoyed boat rides on Lake Lanier with these wonderful friends of ours. It still breaks our hearts to learn of Pam passing away. Heaven gained a sweet soul that day! I'm posting a few pics of Pam in her honor. We had so many good memories during those 19 years with her and her husband Larry. Cherish the wonderful memories with family and friends! RIP Pam!

Pam was one of my best friends, she was fun ,full of life, we lived side by side on house boats for 12 or more years, she always remembered dates , right now she is in Heaven correcting me!! Then we moved into homes side by side, I will miss my dear friend, cant believe she is gone, God must have needed her very much to take her from us so soon. The day she died I was shopping and stopped at Taco Bell ,our favorite place, I remember saying I wish I could buy some for Pam cause I thought she was coming home but I new she couldn't eat spicy things. So iIhope the Lord is keeping her supplied with Tacos and tons of the hot sauce she loved. Goodbye Friend I will see you again someday

My sincerest sympathies go out to the Shaney and New family. Pam was a good person and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was not ordinary but a fun and down to earth person. Heaven has gained a NEW angel. Rest in Peace, Pam.
