Obituary for Ronald W. Smith
Ronald W. Smith, 77, of Dawsonville passed away Thursday December 31, 2020 following a period of declining health.
Born May 17, 1943, Ronald had been a resident of Dawson County since 2002 and lived in Chamblee for the previous 35 years. He owned and operated R.W. Smith Company LLC and built many commercial shopping centers all over the United States. Alongside his daughter, he helped start Char’s Family Daycare in Dawsonville. Ronald enjoyed flying model airplanes and was a loving and devoted husband and father. He was preceded in death by his parents, Omer and Madge Smith, sister, Barbra Smith and brothers, Jack, Elmo and Don Smith.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Carol Smith; daughters and son in law, Charlene and John Jones, Glenda Hodges, all of Dawsonville; sons, Ricky Cash, Dawsonville, Gene Smith, Florida; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Monday January 4, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Jeff Burrell will officiate. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday January 3, 2021 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Monday from 12 noon until the hour of service.
