Obituary for Shirley "George" Rider
Shirley “George” Rider, 61, of Gainesville passed away Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton following a period of declining health.
Born May 24, 1961, she spent most of her life in Lumpkin County and had been a resident Hall County for the past three years. Miss Rider loved animals, especially cats and always enjoyed listening to her music. A loving and devoted mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her family most of all. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, D.C. and Annie Grindle; son, Dwayne Rider; sister, Linda Grindle; and husband, James Norrell.
Surviving are her daughter, Jeana Rider (Greg Willard) of Dawsonville; sister, Judy Blanchard (Richard) of Gainesville; brother, Freddie Grindle (Cheri) of Calhoun; daughter-in-law, Becky Rider of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Lauren Terry (James), Gracie Rider, Garrett Rider, Delaney Rider; Nieces and Nephews, Ric Blanchard, Robbie Blanchard (Holly), David Grindle (Ashley), Anthony Garmon (Brandie), Christopher Grindle (Bethy), Angela McDonald (Steve), Amanda Cato (James), Jessica Chavez.
The family is planning memorial services to be held at a later date.
