Obituary for Sidney Alton Dewberry
Sidney Alton Dewberry, 89, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022 following a period of declining health.
Born May 15, 1933 in Hopewell, VA to the late Charles and Bessie Dewberry, he had lived in Dawsonville since 1997. Mr. Dewberry worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons for 33 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Dahlonega Ward. Sidney was a U. S. Air Force veteran who served during the Korean Conflict. Preceding him in death were his wives, Lou Alice Oxendine Dewberry and Linda Sue Bowers Dewberry; and sons, James Alton Dewberry and Sidney Allen Dewberry; brothers, Hal S. Dewberry and Marvin T. Dewberry.
Surviving are his children, Wanda Elaine Bennett, Florida, Glen Dewberry, California; grandson, Cole Lawton Bennett; sister and brother in law, Bonnie and Ernest Nickerman, Hopewell, VA; brothers and sister in law, Lloyd A. Dewberry, Hopewell, VA, Otis L. and Brenda Dewberry, Hopewell, VA.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 7, 2022 at 3 o’clock at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Dahlonega Ward. Bishop Michael Mulberry will officiate. Interment will follow in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2 until 3 at the Church.
