Obituary for Theresa Vilches Barnhill
Theresa Barnhill, 93, of Cumming, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 11, 2020, following a period of declining health.
Born August 15, 1926, in Yonkers, New York, to the late Joseph and Virtudes Vilches, she had lived many years in south Florida before moving to Knoxville, Tennessee, and most recently lived in the Gainesville and Cumming areas. She was a dedicated and fierce tennis player well into her 80’s, loved sewing, cooking, and spending time with family. She was very dedicated to her brisk walks and walked every day until she was over 90.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 4 other siblings, including her beloved sister Mary (on May 22nd this year). Surviving are her 5 children: Diane New, Fountain City, SC, Joan Jobin, Woodstock, GA, Susan Jennie Calhoun, Royal Palm Beach, FL, Andrew Barnhill, Woodstock, GA, and Louanne Henderson, Cumming, GA; as well as 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Her passion for tennis, very healthy cooking, and adventurous spirit will be missed by all.
A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020 from 11:00-1:00 p.m. at the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.
