Obituary for Virginia Elizabeth Burnett

Virginia Elizabeth Burnett, age 98, of Dawsonville, Georgia passed away into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 30, 2022. She was at home surrounded by her family. Virginia (Ginny) was born in Chicago, IL on July 2, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Leo and Wanda Stamm.

Ginny was a member of Christ Redeemer Church in Dawsonville and before that a long time member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Cumming, Georgia. Ginny loved to knit. She knitted more then 250 Helmet Liners for men and women overseas, also more then 100 hats for preemie babies. All donated. (She even knitted one for the Pope). She was very creative and in her late years spent a lot of time at the Senior Center painting. We all have the beautiful paintings to remember her by. She loved getting visits from family members and friends and playing cards and checkers with grandkids, Kaitlyn, Preston and Trevor.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Robert Burnett who she married in 1945, Parents, Leo and Wanda Stamm and Grandsons, Bruce McDowell and Jimmy Hart.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Kirk Davis (Dawsonville), Son: Richard Burnett (Dawsonville) Son and Daughter-in-law: Bob and Susan Burnett (St. Pete, Fl). Grandchildren; Jennifer Caine (Eddie) Dawsonville, Bobby McDowell (Kristen) Evans, GA, Bobby Burnett (Kristin) St. Pete, FL, Jeffrey Burnett (Becca) Orlando, Fl, Sara Burnett, Alex Burnett, and Trevor Burnett. Great-Grandchildren: Kirk McDowell (Jordan), Kaitlyn McDowell, Bruce McDowell, J. T. O’Connor (Sydney), Preston Hart, Trevor Hart, Mylee McDowell, Haven McDowell, Robert McDowell, Skylar Hale, Madison Echols (Evan), Tripp Caine, Tucker Caine, Bentlee Caine, Taylor Burnett, Emmit Burnett, Wyatt Burnett, Ella Burnett and Edie Burnett, Nephew, Joe Cali (Elsa); great great grandchildren, Gracie Echols, Rylan Echols, Eloise Echols, Knox Hale, Brooklyn O’Connor; and family and many more family members and friends.
A funeral mass will be held Monday, February 7, 2022 at 11 o’clock at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, Dawsonville. Fr. Brian Higgins will officiate. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens, Cumming, Georgia.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 6, 2022 from 2 until 4 at the funeral home and on Monday, February 7, 2022 beginning at 10 a. m. at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church.
