Obituary for Willie Eugene Burt
Willie Burt, 92, of Dawsonville passed away Friday January 15, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Born July 25, 1928, Willie had been a resident of Dawson County for all of his life. For many years he owned and operated Burt’s Garage in Dawsonville and also drove a tractor for the hayride at Burt’s Pumpkin Farm. He was always known to have one of the nicest and best vegetable gardens in the area. He loved and enjoyed his grandchildren, especially his great-granddaughters. Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Lizzie Burt; sister, Ruby Harben; brothers, Herbert Burt and G.C. Burt.
Surviving are his wife of almost 70 years, Versel Burt; sons and daughter in law, Donny and Penny Burt, Gary Burt, all of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Tiffany and Dan Ramsey, Dawsonville, Derek and Michele Burt, Cleveland; great-granddaughters, Emma and Avery; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 19, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Russell Burt will officiate. Interment will follow in Wesley Chapel UMC Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday January 18 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Tuesday January 19 from 11 a.m. until the hour of service.
