Obituary for Ronald Griggs

Ronald  Griggs
Ronald Griggs, 69, of Dawsonville, Forsyth County, passed away Sunday July 6, 2014 at his residence following a sudden illness.
Mr. Griggs was born September 12, 1944 in Gilmer County to the late William and Mildred Griggs. He had been a resident of Forsyth County for over 40 years. A graduate of Gilmer County High School and later Pickens Technical College with a degree in Electronics he worked for AT&T and Lucent Technologies as an Electronic Technician until retiring after 37 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam, member of Silver City Baptist Church and long time member of the Forsyth County Lions Club where he received the Melvin Jones Award. An avid outdoorsman he loved being outside, working around his home, his tractor, and especially watching his grandchildren play sports.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Hilda Griggs, Forsyth County; daughters and sons in law, Lisa and Tracey Phillips, Dawsonville, Angela and John Spears, Milton; grandchildren, Jessi Phillips, Jake Phillips, Andrew Spears, Jared Spears; brother and sister in law, Daryl and Marilyn Griggs, Ellijay; sister in law, Joyce Page, Ellijay; brother in law and sister in law, C.W. and Patricia Page, Douglasville; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 8, 2014 at 11 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Stephen Davis and Rev. Wilson Pruitt will officiate. Interment will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery at 2 o’clock.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday July 7, 2014 from 5 until 9.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The American Heart Association.
