Obituary for John Joseph Dumphy

John Joseph  Dumphy
John Joseph Dumphy, 78, of Cumming, GA passed away Saturday June 27, 2015.
Born August 29, 1936 in Worcester, MA to the late T. Francis and Mary Dumphy, he had lived in Forsyth County since 2006 having moved from Keller, TX. Mr. Dumphy was a graduate of St. John’s High School in Worcester, earned a law degree from Boston University and received an Undergraduate Degree from The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester. He practiced law in Springfield, MA until his retirement. John was a U. S. Marine Corp veteran, was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, enjoyed golf and was an avid Red Sox fan. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Francis Dumphy.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Betsy Dumphy, Cumming; sons and daughters in law, Jay and Cathy Dumphy, Palatine, IL, Charley and Deb Dumphy, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Colin Dumphy, Olivia Dumphy, Joe Dumphy; sister, Maribeth McGowan, Arizona; brother, Fr. Charles Dumphy, Shrewsbury, MA; and a number of other relatives.
A funeral mass will be held Friday July 3, 2015 at 10 o’clock at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Fr. Frank Richardson and Fr. Charles Dumphy will officiate. Interment will be held in Georgia National Cemetery at a later date.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 until 8 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 3740 Holtzclaw Road, Cumming, Georgia 30041.
