Obituary for Floyd Waters

Floyd  Waters
Floyd Waters, 68, of Dawsonville passed away Sunday November 22, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Born September 16, 1947 in Gilmer County to the late Minor and Lula Bell Waters, he lived most of his life in Dawson County. For many years he was employed at Lockheed and until his retirement he worked at Gainesville Welding. Floyd loved Hot Rod cars, was an avid knife collector and in his early years was known to make a little moonshine. He possessed a love for family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. Waters was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Dahlonega and was also preceded in death by a sister, Ann Waters, and brothers, Delton Waters, Maynard Waters, Lawton Waters, and L. J. Waters.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Joyce Waters; children, Kim Waters and David Stovall, Gainesville, Kathy and Rodney Lanning, Dahlonega, Karen and Brian Westbrook, Dawsonville, Kent and Courtney Waters, Gainesville, Kayla and Kevin Shoemake, Cumming; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Doris Blackwell, High Point, NC; brothers and sisters in law, Weldon Waters, Gainesville, Clinton and Marie Waters, Dahlonega, Larry and Donna Waters, Cumming; and a number of other relatives.
A celebration of life will be held Tuesday November 24, 2015 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Lee Ayers and Rev. Russell Burt will officiate.
The family will receive friends Monday from 4 until 8 and Tuesday from 10 until 2 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to The Rotary Foundation, 250 John Morrow Parkway, Suite 121 #189, Gainesville, Georgia 30501.
