Obituary for Onie Bruce

Onie  Bruce
Onie Bruce, 93, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday August 30, 2016 following a short illness.
Born October 30, 1922 to the late Sanford and Rosie Graham, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. Mrs. Bruce was a graduate of Dawson County High School and Perry Business College. She retired from Dawson County Bank, now United Community Bank, after over 30 years of service. Onie was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and was also preceded in death by her husbands, Lamar Owens, who was killed in Italy during WW II, and Gordon Leon Bruce to whom she was married for 59 years, a sister, Ruby Abercrombie, and a brother and sister in law, Homer and Lona Nell Graham.
Surviving are her sons and daughter in law, Don Bruce and Lynn Jones, Dawsonville, Mike and Jackie Bruce, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Tabatha and Ricky Chastain, Dawsonville, Bart and Alexa Bruce, Dawsonville, Derek and Katherine Bruce, Athens; great grandchildren, Morgan Chastain, Avett Bruce, Benjamin Bruce; a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Thursday September 1, 2016 at 11 o’clock at Harmony Baptist Church. Rev. Tony Holtzclaw and Rev. Joey Gilbert will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12 until 8.
