Obituary for Mick Hollaway

Mick  Hollaway
Mick Hollaway, 78, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday December 27, 2016 at Peachtree Christian Hospice following a period of declining health.
Born February 28, 1938 and raised in Lenoir, North Carolina, Mick had been a resident of Dawsonville since 1988. A 1956 graduate of Lenoir High School, he was very active in the band where he played trumpet and also went on to play in the U.S. Navy Ceremonial Band. Mick was a U.S. Navy veteran who had a great love for music. A member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, he served as a trustee, sang in the choir, and headed the music program with his wife for a number of years. Mick was also an active member of the Dawson Community Chorale. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carole Hollaway and father, Dallas Hollaway.
Surviving are his mother, Maggie Tuttle, Lenoir, NC; children, Mike Hollaway, Snellville, Todd and Susy Hollaway, Dawsonville, Becky Hollaway, Atlanta; step-children, Bryan Duncan, Denver, CO, Kelley Crane, Dawsonville; brother, Thomas Roger Hollaway, Lenoir, NC; a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Friday December 30, 2016 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Calvin Ward will officiate. Interment will follow in the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4pm until 8pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dawson Community Chorale, PO Box 849, Dawsonville, GA 30534.
