Obituary for Howard Cubberley

Howard Cubberley
Howard Cubberley, 68, passed away of cancer Monday, September 12, 2016 at his home in Dawsonville, Georgia. Howard was born and grew up in Miami where he attended Palmetto High School. After graduating from the University of Florida, Howard returned to Miami to begin his career in construction.

Howard and his beloved wife of 40 years, June Vander Hoek, moved to Dawsonville Georgia in 1983. He continued to work in the construction field in the north Georgia area in addition to building two of their own beautifully hand-crafted homes.

In 2009 a family emergency brought them to Pioneer Town in Southern California where they continued to live until this summer. Howard loved the desert landscape and spent much of his spare time hiking with friends in and around the Joshua Tree National Park area and the Pioneer Town Mountain Preserve.

Howard leaves behind his wife, June Cubberley, a sister Patty Holeman of Key Largo, FL.and a nephew, Spencer Holeman also of Key Largo, FL.

Howard wanted to express his immense gratitude for the many professional friendships he had in his work, his abundance of lifelong friends and family from Florida, Georgia, California and Alaska who called frequently and came to visit these past two months, his friends he hiked with in California, The Church of Religious Science in Yucca Valley and Denver, the Siddha Yoga Community in Atlanta and South Fallsburg, New York, and a very special thanks to Kim, his Hospice nurse with Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

The family is planning private memorial services and would like any memorial donations to be made to the ASPCA.
